Holderness junior varsity soccer prides itself on being a development team for the Holderness varsity squad. The JV team not only looks to develop talent for the varsity team, but also depends on a wide variety of leaders and developing players to help continue the team’s winning culture. We’ve had many talented soccer players from the JV squad continue on to the Holderness varsity team. These players have been important members of successful varsity teams, including NEPSAC Championship winners.

When Brooklyn Barnhorst '27, Brooke Schemmel '28, Nina Martin '28, and Reese Harrigan '28 arrived at Sugarloaf for U16 US Nationals, nerves ran high. For Reese, it was her first time on the national stage. “I was really nervous going into it,” she admitted. “Sugarloaf has an intense reputation.” But what surprised her wasn’t the hill—it was the community.
After missing her entire sophomore season due to injury, Bowdoin Women’s Basketball player Rachel Storey '22 spent her off-season making sure she would be ready for tip-off this Winter. With the help of her coaches and trainers, Rachel entered the season physically and mentally ready to compete while remembering to set realistic expectations and be nice to herself.
When Topher Davenport '21 committed to Colby College and the Mule’s Alpine Skiing Team during his senior year at Holderness, he set a goal for himself: “By the end of my four years at Colby, I want to be an All-American.” Three years into his collegiate skiing career, Topher continues to take steps toward achieving his goal.
Current Saint Michael's College Men's Hockey Team goalie Evan Plunkett '23 gives consistency and effort every time he steps on the ice. He reflects on working hard to get results.
Jasmine Whittaker ’22, a Boston College Alpine Ski Team junior, credits her success to staying present, maintaining objectivity, and applying the skills she developed at Holderness to balance academics and athletics. Her mindful approach has helped her achieve consistent results, foster strong team dynamics, and navigate the competitive nature of collegiate skiing.
