Health & Wellness at Holderness

The Health Team is committed to supporting each Holderness student to optimize their health and well-being. We focus on caring for and diagnosing students with new illnesses, connecting students to counseling, assistance with medications, arranging doctor’s appointments outside of our clinic, and making individual plans for safe return to sports after injuries.  Our nursing team is available for students Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 7:30 am and Saturday 7:30 am - 11:30 am.

New to 2020, we are moving to an appointment-based system to reduce congestion in the waiting room. Please make an appointment by calling (603) 779-5367 or emailing nurse@holderness.org.

Counseling Services

Holderness School attempts to create an environment in which all students can flourish. The School Counselor, Carol Dopp, is an important resource and is available to the students for ongoing support. She is available to assist students experiencing emotional, family, relationship, and campus life problems. If serious emotional problems arise, she can provide recommendations for further assessment and intervention. Medical management of, and ongoing psychotherapy for, emotional or attention problems are beyond the scope of services provided by Holderness School; however, arrangements can be made for such specialized care to be provided locally. For more information, please contact the School Nurse or the School Counselor

  • COVID-19

Times are changing, as are the scientific understandings of COVID-19 and its transmission patterns across the globe.  Since the early spring of 2020, dozens of members of Holderness, from both within and outside of the health center, have been looking at the data and speaking with experts to create and regularly revise plans and protocols in order to maximize safety on campus and lower the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Within the health center, students may notice that the layout of the center has changed to allow for students without COVID-19 symptoms to address their healthcare needs more quickly and with less chance of interacting with students that have symptoms of possible concern.  Students with fevers or respiratory symptoms will have separate areas for rest and evaluation.  For students scheduled to see a counselor, they will be able to enter and exit the building via a separate door.  Other changes to the health center include new HEPA filtration systems and airflow ventilation units.  We are also in close communication with our local hospital, Speare Memorial Hospital, to keep on top of local COVID-19 concerns.
