Holderness Holiday Gift Guide
Alexandra Molloy
This holiday season, we curated a gift guide with handpicked recommendations from our faculty, showcasing their favorite books, outdoor gear, local products, and experiences.

Whether you're shopping for an Adventurer or a Creative - student, an alum, a parent, or a friend, these suggestions capture the heart of what makes Holderness special—curiosity, adventure, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the world around us.

The Adventurer

  • Being on the mountain 6 days a week has its challenges. To fuel my day, I start with White Mountain Ski Co Espresso, roasted locally by my cousin, whose dad is an alumnus, and I never leave home without my Craft Sportswear Baselayer.

  • Rumpl Puffy Blanket is the coziest insulated blanket when you’re lounging outside. Digital Marketing Strategist Alex Molloy likes to keep it in her pack for those brisk fall or winter hikes when a summit sunrise coffee is warranted.
  • Nemo Lightweight Insulated Sleeping Pad “Best purchase I’ve made for Out Back so far” says Jordan Graham, Dean of Academics.
The Bookworm
  • Northwoods by Daniel Mason. Recommended by both Bruce Barton and Dean of Academics Jordan Graham via Mike Carrigan and Marilee Lin!
  • 5000 Days Like This One by Jane Brox is among my personal favorites, says Bruce Barton. The Kirkus Review says it best, "This is quite beautiful music, the sound of a family's life that keeps ringing in a daughter's ears." — Kirkus Reviews
  • Never Enough by Jennifer Wallace is a great non-fiction for parents raising competitive teens while learning how to fight back against toxic achievement culture.
The Connector
The Creative
  • From Director of Publications and Creative Content Greg Kwasnik, “I film a lot of the video content for Holderness School, and this winter I’m excited to use our new Osmo Action 5 Pro. It’s a small action camera that’s a direct competitor to GoPro, but with a larger sensor size that produces cleaner video in low light. When you film in New Hampshire in the winter, that’s an important thing to consider. There’s just a ton of cool tech packed into this small camera!
  • Walking Apron. The best step-into apron for full coverage from clay, paint, cooking... you name it! (They have kids sizes too!)
We hope this guide inspires you with meaningful gifts that spread the Holderness love far and wide this holiday season. Happy holidays from all of us!
