Athletes of the Month | October 2025
Holderness School

Each week we recognize our student-athletes for their athletic accomplishments. This month we recognize seven athletes.

Paige Olsen '28
Team: Girls Junior Varsity Soccer

Paige scored 4 goals in the Bulls' 6-1 defeat of KUA. Paige led her team as center-mid, completing passes to the outside and defending the middle against any attacks. Her movement and grit were monumental in the win!

Maggie Higgins '26
Team: Varsity Field Hockey

Maggie scored a critical goal for her team this weekend and successfully shut down several defensive corners as a flyer. All season long, Maggie has been integral to this team’s midfield movement, making assists and calling in plays.

Oliver Sheppe '29
Team: Boys Junior Varsity 2 Soccer

Oliver, playing the stopper position, had an outstanding week on the pitch. He steadied the team's defense in wins over Cardigan Mountain and New Hampton. Known for his athleticism, anticipation, and quickness, Oliver frustrated the opponents' top attacking players into making turnovers and, subsequently, led the transition into scoring opportunities for the Bulls. Rarely off he field of play, Oliver's tenacity was key in keeping the Bulls undefeated.

Sam Martin '26
Team: Boys Varsity Soccer

Sam scored the game-winner against New Hampton, resulting in the Bulls' 1-0 win over the Huskies!

Emelia Hinman '29
Team: Mountain Biking

Emelia has been putting in great effort all season, and it all came to fruition at Holderness’ home race this past Wednesday! Emelia would find herself standing atop the Women’s podium after the dust had settled. Great work in what was a commanding first race win of the season.

Claire Eccleston '26
Team: Field Hockey

Claire scored a game-tying goal that would take the Bulls into their OT game against New Hampton. She is described by her coaches as an invaluable midfielder who gives 100%, every minute of every game. Her energy and leadership, both on and off the field, help her team find success every day.

Phen Wright '29
Team: Mountain Biking

Phen has had a tremendous season and wrapped it all up with a BANG! He captured the top step of the podium in the C category race hosted at Holderness. With a short turnaround to the championship and racing in a field of 160 athletes, Phen once again found himself fighting at the front.

Phen fell just short of the podium in 4th, but there is no question that it was yet again another awesome performance. We look forward to Phen pushing the Holderness team in the future!

GO BULLS!
