With 10 km of wide double-track and an additional 7 km of single-track trails right on campus, the boys’ cross-country running team has the perfect playground for training. Stretching, strength, and tempo runs are part of the team’s weekly routine as well as races throughout the Lakes Region. The season begins in September and ends with the Division III New England Prep School Championships in early November.
While competitions are taken seriously, there is plenty of time for fun as well. Variety days allow athletes opportunities to cross train by mountain biking, hiking, practicing yoga, and playing Capture the Flag.
While many members of the team are passionate runners, others use cross-country to train for spring and winter sports. Beginners to the sport are welcome as well as seasoned athletes who are trying to make all-New England teams. The sport lends itself to meeting athletes where they are and helping them to achieve individual goals. As a team, and as individuals, this team succeeds both at the local and New England level.
