Cross Country Girls Varsity
2018 - 2019
Head Coach: Rachel Jastrebsky
With over 17 km of trails right on campus, the girls’ cross-country running team enjoys training on one of the hardest courses in the Lakes Region. The girls also take advantage of the network of trails that surround Holderness in the Lakes Region and White Mountains. In addition to weekly tempo runs and yoga sessions, the girls frequently meet up with the boys for a hike or a lively game of Capture the Flag.
Many of the girls on the team are seasoned runners, but just as many are discovering the sport for the first time. Many also use cross-country running as a way to get in shape for spring and winter sports. Taking second place in the Lakes Region Championships in 2015, and first place in 2014, the Holderness girls’ cross-country team is widely known as one of the most formidable in the region.
Coach Amelia Ortiz is a recent graduate of Williams College and the captain of the running team during her time there, while Coach Rachel Jastrebsky is a professional triathlete. Teamwork and a passion for the sport are nurtured and encouraged as the students train and explore together with their coaches.
