Holderness has always embraced the game the way it is supposed to be played: outdoors in the elements with a focus on toughness, grit, speed, and enthusiasm. We compete in the Lakes Region conference of the New England Prep School Athletic Conference and play 15-20 games from the beginning of December until the first of March. With a keen sense of the importance of work ethic, perseverance, and the joys of the competition, Holderness hockey players leave with a true sense of not just the rules of the game but the spirit of the game as well.
At the junior varsity level, emphasis is placed on the development of fundamental skills that not only strengthen the athletes' ice hockey game but their overall athletic fitness as well. Daily practices include skills and drills in skating and stick handling as well as system work and conditioning.
