It was a game where Holderness seemed to have things under control from start to finish, but the Bulls’ inability to put the puck in the net resulted in a close contest that either team could have won.

Just seven seconds into the game, the line of Tom Hendricks, Reilly Cepuritis and Finn Pilaro would win the opening faceoff. Hendricks gathered up the loose puck and then skated over the blue line, rounded his defenseman, and backhanded a pretty shot into the top corner of the net to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. One would have thought that the quick goal would have given the team momentum, but the reverse happened. Holderness got sloppy and complacent, and the end-result was a first period that saw both team’s goalies make six stops, and there were a number of odd-man advantages for both sides.

Between periods, the Bulls gathered their wits and started to play better team hockey. At the twelve-minute mark of the second, defenseman Cole Lehouiller snapped off a pretty wrist shot from high in the slot to record his first Holderness goal and give the team a 2-0 lead. It would end up being the game-winner, for just three minutes later Berwick would beat Bulls’ goalie Sergio Yap and inch the score to 2-1. From then on, though, Holderness would not allow another shot on net. For twenty-four minutes the Bulls played smart team-defense, created multiple scoring opportunities and confidently road out the final minutes to a 2-1 victory.

The team takes a break for the Long Weekend and returns to action on February 7 for a 2:30 home game vs. St. Paul’s
