Bulls drop close one to Vermont 4-2

Alan Thompson
Holderness came out strong in the 1st with constant pressure and peppered Vermont early with shots. They were finally able to beat a talented Vermont goalie midway through the 1st off a Kevin Pitts goal to make it 1-0 Bulls. Holderness couldn't find a way to keep their intensity up and let Vermont get some momentum back after killing off a penalty. Holderness would then turn the puck over on various opportunities to get the puck out and Vermont capitalized making it 1-1 after 1 period of play. In the second, the two teams exchanged scoring chances and played evenly for the majority of the period with each team adding one goal and headed to the locker room tied at 2-2 after 2 periods of play. Alex Gagnon picked up his 8th goal of the season with assists to Patrick Ault and Alex Wisnes.  In the 3rd, the Bulls couldn't stay out of the box and Vermont capitalized on their second power play chance of the period making it 3-2 six minutes into the 3rd. The Bulls had their chances to tie on a power play opportunity of their own, but couldn't find a way to beat Vermont's goalie. Vermont added another goal late leading to the 4-2 win. Vermont won the special teams battle tonight and it ended up being the difference in the game. Bulls goalie Connor Androlewicz played well in the loss and lots of credit goes out to the Vermont goalie for his solid play as well. The Bulls will take a few days off to focus on exams and then head down to the LA/Groton tournament for 4 games against some of the top teams in New England.
