The Proctor Academy Hornets traveled to Holderness today in a rematch of an earlier contest that saw the two teams tie 3-3.  Although the Bulls would again notch three goals, this time they held Proctor scoreless to take the game 3-0.
Holderness started off very well with both the offense and defense meshing nicely to control the flow of play.  The Bulls had two “almost but not quite” scoring chances in the early going, but the Proctor defense was solid and did not bend.  At the twenty-two minute mark of the first half, the Bulls were awarded a direct kick about twenty-five out from the Hornets’ goal.  Spencer Glascock stepped up to take the kick and surgically knocked the ball into the far low corner to put the team up 1-0.  With two minutes left on the clock, Holderness was inside the Proctor box with multiple shots at net.  The Proctor defense and goalie combined for miraculous saves, but it was Finn Pilaro who found a rebound on his foot, and he drilled it into the back of the net to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead.  Solid play throughout the first half was displayed by Jackson Lehner, Steve Ju, Charlie Morris, Young Gwon and Ethan Hayes.  Their touch on the ball and smart distribution allowed the Bulls good possession time throughout the period.
To open the second half, Proctor seemed to find new life. They took control of the momentum and began to put pressure on the Holderness defense.  Glascock, Charlie Crumbo, Mikey Cosgrave and especially Boss Ngamkanjanarat held firm, though, and played smart team defense to keep the ball away from goalie Alan Yu.  With five minutes left in the game, the Bulls finally established some breathing room when midfielder Henry Richard scored his second goal of the season when he craftily maneuvered in the Proctor box and let fly a low-liner to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Bulls.
Valuable minutes were logged today by Max Alden, Alex Robbins and Alberto Bazzoni as they were called upon to put pressure on the Proctor defense and create turnovers.  Also, Jake Rowan played in his first game after a frustrating stint on the injured list since the beginning of the season.  Jake saw good time and made a positive impact on the Bulls’ offense.
Great job by Boss today shutting down the Proctor attackers; by Henry for controlling the middle of the field; by Spencer for burying his direct kick; and by Alan for recording the shutout.  The Bulls are not back in action until Saturday, 11/4 when they host New Hampton at 2:00.
