The Bulls fought hard to tie BB&N's 2-0 lead in the second half, tying the game with 17 minutes left to play, but were unable to find the back of the net a third time to match BB&N's third goal.
The Holderness Field Hockey team traveled to Cambridge, MA to face BB&N in their season-opener this Saturday. The Bulls worked hard in the defensive end in the first half. Senior goalie, and captain, Kiely Smiga-McManus had 12 saves in the first half, but the BB&N team was able to sneak one in. In the second half, BB&N netted one more early. Then the Bulls became more offensive minded and scored two goals in less than ten minutes. Junior Morgan Sisson, center midfield, led in the midfield distributing the ball effectively. The first was a good team goal, with a pass from Lila Schibli into the circle to Andrea Reynolds, who crossed it to Claudia Cantin. The next goal came from a messy fight in front of the goal which was spiked in by Andrea Reynolds. The last goal of the game came from BB&N after a free hit at the top of the circle. Although the Bulls battled hard for 13 more minutes, they were unable to find the back of the net. Kiely Smiga-McManus and a composed defensive squad led by senior and captain Bridget Pope handled a lot of defensive pressure; Smiga-McManus ended with 15 saves.
