A New School Year Has Begun!

Greg Kwasnik
Holderness School is excited to begin the 2021-22 school year with its largest student body in the school’s 143-year history, and its largest ninth grade class ever.
Thanks to record low attrition, the school welcomed 301 students to campus this fall, including 66 ninth graders. The members of this year’s student body represent 26 states and 18 countries, including Thailand, China, Sweden, and Switzerland, among others.

"What I love about our community is that these new students embrace being other-centered, empathetic, and kind, " says Head of School Phil Peck. "In my last year as head of school, I am eager to celebrate every moment of this year with this community; and I am thankful to be graduating with the Class of 2022!"

Mr. Peck, who is beginning his 38th year at Holderness and his 21st year as head of school, will retire on July 1, 2022. He will be succeeded by John McVeigh, the current Associate Head of School for Faculty Affairs at Brooks School in North Andover, MA.
