Holderness Assists: Reed (3), Switzer (2), Pollini, Glascock, Do
Holderness Ground-Ball Leader: Yap (8)
Holderness Goalie Saves: Ensign (8)
Brewster Goalie Saves: (8)
Despite an even battle through the first half that saw Brewster and Holderness tied at 2 apiece, the Bulls executed their offense much better in the second half and ran off 10 straight goals to ultimately record a 12-2 victory.
Tanner Ensign stepped into the goal today and was superb, making 8 saves, numerous spot-on clears and one mad-dash up field that saw him allude most of the Brewster team. Last week’s weakness of unsuccessful faceoffs and groundballs was cured today as faceoff men Yap, Bocock and others dominated the “X,” and as a team the Bulls scooped-up 60 ground-balls!
The team still needs composure while clearing the ball, but the ride was strong, and good patience and decision making was seen by both the midfields and the attack once the ball was in the offensive end of the field. Gold stars to defensemen Heinzer, Krahmer, Bowen and Heyburn; they continue to be the backbone of the team as we doggedly learn our systems and improve our stick skills.
No rest for the weary as the Bulls take their 2-0 record and host St. Paul’s on Monday for a 5:00 start.
