Social & Emotional Learning

Students perform trail work in the White Mountains.

How do you care for yourself, others, and the environment? How do we build an inclusive, equitable, and just community? Who are you, and who do you want to become?

Our core values as a school - community, character, and curiosity - prompt students to contemplate these and other big questions. As part of our Core3 program, students spend time each week focusing on the following areas to support their social and emotional growth.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice

Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are vitally important topics in today’s world. Students and teachers are given the space to think more deeply and constructively about the world around them, engaging in sometimes-difficult conversations that foster student growth and understanding.

Health & Wellness

School Counselor Carol Dopp talks about health and wellness.

With guidance from the school counselor and other adults, students join in discussions about distracted driving, alcohol and drug use, and a host of other important topics that loom large in high school, college, and beyond.

A love of the outdoors is deeply embedded in Holderness School’s DNA, and Saturday programming allows students to give back in a meaningful way, from trail work in the White Mountains to projects on our wooded, 600-acre campus.
