Holderness Parents Association

The Holderness School Parents Association offers parents an opportunity to become involved in the life of the school through its support of a variety of programs and events during the school year. All current parents are members of the HSPA, and are encouraged to get involved in different activities to meet other parents and stay connected to the school. During the school year, the HSPA holds fundraisers which support the efforts of the Parents Association as well as the Holderness Fund.

Parents Association Events and Committees:

KUA Day - October 4

KUA Day is an all-school athletic event where Holderness plays KUA in a variety of sports: soccer, field hockey, mtn biking. The Parents Association will have a presence on the fields in the form of hospitality tents with treats and other school-spirit items. We are looking for volunteers who can work the tents and donate baked goods and treats for the tents. Sign up to help with KUA Day.

Fall Parents Weekend - October 11 & 12

During Fall Parents Weekend, the Parents Association has a Welcome Table in Weld and sells 50/50 raffle tickets, which supports the Parents Association Fund, a part of the Holderness Fund. Our goal is to raise $10,000. There are also moments on Friday for parents to meet other parents and mingle: a reception at the Head's house from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, and then a dessert and cocktail reception at Common Man from 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM. Sign Up to sell raffle tickets.

The Faculty Appreciation Friday - November 8

We host three (3) Faculty Appreciation Fridays throughout the school year. The fall and spring days involve a table of delicious treats in the Mailroom at Schoolhouse. In the winter, we put together fun goodie bags for faculty as they are about to enter Special Programs. Sign up here to volunteer for Faculty Appreciation Day.

Proctor Day - November 9

Similar to KUA Day, Proctor Day is an all-school athletic event where Holderness plays Proctor in a variety of sports- soccer, field hockey, mtn biking. The Parents Association will have a presence on the fields in the form of tent with treats and other school-spirit items. Sign up here to volunteer for Proctor Day.

College Care Packages - November 23

Each year the Parents Association assembles care packages to send to the most-recent Holderness graduates. These fun gifts arrive just in time for their first college exams. This year we will be sending off over 80 care packages to the class of 2019. Sign up here to assemble or donate items.

Exam Bake and Holiday Notes - December 16-17

This is one of the main events for the Parents Association. During exam week, the PA sponsors two days of yummy treats during breaks, as well as a late-night pizza delivery. During the downtime, PA makes holiday note cards and gifts for faculty and staff. Sign up here for the exam bake.

  • Join the Network and be a Mentor

    Help a Senior Thesis Student
In 2014, Senior Thesis became a full-participation event for all Holderness seniors. Since that time our network of parents and alumni have played a pivotal role in the success of Senior Thesis by providing experiential learning opportunities in their respective industries. We hope you’ll consider offering spring break, summer, and other short-term internship or shadowing opportunities that will help seniors further their studies. Please contact Sarah Barton if you would like more information.

    Career Mentors
Our young graduates are entering the workplace, and we want to help them connect with helpful and wise Holderness mentors. Consider meeting with an alumnus or alumna in your area and sharing your knowledge and experience not only in your field of expertise, but in life!

Post a position at your company and hire a Holderness graduate
Since you're a parent and/or an alumna/us, you know firsthand about how Holderness students excel inside and outside of the classroom. So, why not consider hiring a Holderness grad at your company?
