Holderness School is conveniently located minutes from I-93 in the small town of Holderness with all the conveniences of Plymouth, NH just a 10-minute walk away. We are in the foothills of the White Mountains National Forest surrounded by rivers, mountains, lakes, and cliffs. All just 2 hours from Boston. Here are a few things you shouldn't miss when you visit us!
Franconia Notch
The Notch is a launching pad to numerous adventures or just a jaw-dropping afternoon drive.
Rattlesnake Mountain
A short and incredibly rewarding hike just minutes from campus. Possibly the best mountaintop view in the area -- and that is saying a lot.
Rumney Rocks
Our world-class sport climbing mecca, just 15 minutes from campus. Rumney is home to 38 cliffs with over 800 routes ranging beginner to expert. A lifetime of climbing at your fingertips.
Downtown Plymouth
Plymouth, NH is home to Plymouth State University, numerous restaurants, arts, and culture.
Squam Lake
New Hampshire’s second largest lake with 67 islands. The lake is home to bald eagles, loons, and numerous other wildlife.
Skiing & Mountain Biking in Every Direction
Nineteen mountains within 30 minutes offer front country, back country, and nordic skiing all winter long. In the summer, there are endless trails to ride or run.
Pemigewasset & Baker Rivers
Holderness school is located just north of where the Pemigewasset and the Baker rivers converge. Both of these rivers offer miles of excursions, from tubing to whitewater kayaking.
