Holderness is a global community with students who come from many countries. Our community is deeply enriched by students of diverse origin who come together to create a vibrant culture, rich traditions, and invaluable experiences.
Holderness School requires that every student be covered by a comprehensive injury and sickness plan. Medical insurance issued from a country outside of the United States may not provide complete coverage in the United States. In order to help meet your healthcare coverage needs, Holderness offers a comprehensive plan through United Health Group. For more information, please click on the following pdf:
All international students attend international student orientation to assist with the transition to life at Holderness. This program takes place on campus September 3-5. During this time, international students will have a chance to recuperate from jet-lag, learn their surroundings, meet teachers and student leaders, purchase school and dorm supplies, and get comfortable with campus life.
With the support of the International Student Coordinator, Holderness helps students coordinate travel to and from campus around vacation periods, including airport pick-up or drop off to Boston’s Logan Airport or Manchester New Hampshire Airport. Students also receive help organizing international student travel documentation.
International students may choose to stay on campus for the extended October and February Parent's Weekend. Students who stay on campus participate in activities and receive supervision. All students leave campus for our Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks. During this time, students typically travel home or homestay with a friend.
Holderness does not offer ESL but does require a weekly 1 to 1 class with our ESOL teacher for students whose first language is not English. These classes offer support in all areas of student life.
