Tina Zhao ’27 Honored with Multiple Awards at New Hampshire Science Expo

Holderness junior Tina Zhao ‘27 earned the Howard Eglowstein Award at this year’s New Hampshire Science and Engineering Exposition (NHSEE).

Zhao submitted an innovative project titled “Falcon-Wing Bionic OWC Wave Energy Multi-Impeller Converter for Marine Renewable Energy Application.” The Howard Eglowstein Award is one of several special recognitions presented at NHSEE, highlighting excellence in specific fields.

Zhao’s project stood out for its sophisticated approach to renewable energy, combining oscillating water column (OWC) technology with a bio-inspired “falcon-wing” design and a multi-impeller system to improve the efficiency of wave energy conversion.

In addition, Zhao was awarded the Student Award for Geoscience Excellence, presented by the Association for Women Geoscientists, and a full scholarship to the New Hampshire Academy of Science's three-week Applied Scientific Research program this summer, where students work closely with accomplished science, technology, engineering, and mathematics professionals to advance their research and deepen their STEM experience.
