Family and friends gathered on campus in June to celebrate with Sarah and Bruce Barton. The Bartons were recognized for their years of service to Holderness by having a classroom in the Davis Center dedicated in their honor.
Sarah Barton has demonstrated more than 30 years of passion and commitment to the education and well-being of students. She describes herself as a lifelong learner who grows alongside her students. Sarah has served as the Director of Senior Capstone, an English teacher, and a trusted college counselor. Her unwavering dedication to nurturing the intellectual curiosity and personal growth of each student has left an indelible legacy at Holderness.
Bruce Barton's tenure at Holderness School began in 1988, and throughout the years, he has filled a multitude of roles, leaving an indelible mark on the institution. Most recently in the role of Director of College Counseling, Bruce's influence extends far beyond that domain. As a dedicated teacher, coach, assistant chaplain, and dorm parent, he has positively impacted the lives of countless students, instilling in them a sense of purpose and guiding them on their paths to success.
The ceremony not only honored their extraordinary service but also exemplified the profound impact they have had on the Holderness community. Their names will forever be associated with a classroom that symbolizes the enduring spirit of education, mentorship, and support that they have provided to generations of students.
And best of all, the Bartons plan to continue working at Holderness for years to come!
