The actors and stage crew are gearing up for the upcoming production of Godspell at Holderness School. The show originated in the 1970's when John-Michael Tebelak wrote Godspell as his master's thesis project at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It ran off-Broadway before the producers hired Stephen Schwartz, another alumnus of Carnegie Mellon's theater department to write a new score. After the revisions, Godspell ran off and on Broadway for more than 2,600 performances.
And a distinctly Holderness version is ready for the stage in Hagerman! This Friday night will be the performance for the students of Holderness School and there will be a public performance on Saturday at 8 PM in Hagerman Auditorium. Admission is free and all are welcome.
